Dealing with Hair Loss (cont)
What doesn’t help of course, are the myriad of magical solutions that are offered by unscrupulous vendors who claim to be able to cure hair loss in a matter of weeks. Unfortunately the Holy Grail for hair loss has not been found, and many of the so-called remedies on the market are nothing more than colored water. What is hardly ever considered with these ‘tonic-water’ remedies is the psychological effects that the patient might go through when they discover their hair loss hasn’t been alleviated and the money they spent was in vain – and it is the very desperation of people suffering from hair loss that creates the market for these so-called remedies. A desperate person will try anything, once. That in itself sums up the effects that hair loss can have on an individual. That they are willing to part with hard-earned money and try just about anything to regain their hair says much about their state of mind and clarity of thought on the subject.
The good news is that there have been advancements in understanding hair loss and for the first time in mankind’s history there are products available that can actually help arrest hair loss, and in some cases, actually regrow hair – in addition to advanced cosmetic remedies such as transplants and extremely realistic hairpieces. Each solution will be different for every person and entering into any kind of hair loss program should be undertaken with the utmost care and attention.
Things that you can do if you suffer from hair loss
Some of these suggestions may seem obvious, but often they can be overlooked or forgotten.
Keep yourself fit. Particularly in today’s society where first impressions count, a fit body will often draw attention away from the face and hair.
Keep your hair well trimmed and tidy. There is nothing worse than seeing a balding man attempt to disguise the fact by brushing the hair over from one side of the head. Don’t forget, when you look in the mirror you can only see yourself from the front at eye level. Other people see you from all angles, and will see your attempts to cover any bald areas for what they are.
