Rogaine Minoxidil

Rogaine is a topically applied solution to help arrest hair loss in both men and women. Instead of taking a tablet like you would with the other hair loss treatments, Rogaine is applied directly to the hair loss area twice a day. While it may be considered more arduous to apply Rogaine twice daily to the hair loss area than to say, take a tablet once a day, there is some comfort in the fact that you are treating a specific area as opposed to releasing drugs into your bloodstream by taking a tablet.

Rogaine comes in two strengths, 2% and 5% (which relates to the amount of Minoxidil, the primary ingredient, present), but the Rogaine 5% is only available in the men’s version. The Rogaine 2% treatment is suitable for both men and women.

Rogaine has been suggested to help arrest the hair loss process in up to four out of 5 people (both men and women), but of course the results will vary depending on the individual and the degree of hair loss. Like with any hair loss remedy, it will take significant time to evaluate the effectiveness of Rogaine, so you should prepare to take the treatment for up to one year to know if Rogaine is right for you. In normal situations however, you should see some improvement in your hair in a matter of 6 months or so.

Rogaine makes no claims to be effective in the treatment or arrest of receding hairlines from the temple area (which is where most of us first notice our hair loss), but studies have shown that it has been effective in areas on the top and back of the scalp.

Approxiamately 1ml of Rogaine Minoxidil solution is applied to the scalp twice daily, ideally in the morning and before going to bed. It is recommended to allow the solution to completely dry before applying gels, hairspray, brushing, or even going to bed. Even though it only takes minutes to apply Rogaine, it is nevertheless important to think about the impact that this will have on your life should you undertake a course of Rogaine, as it is vital to adhere to the regime properly to achieve best results. Each bottle should last you approx. 1 month if used as directed (but using it all at once won't help make your hair grow back any faster).

Like with other products, Rogaine is for life if you wish to keep hair loss at bay. If you stop with the Rogaine treatment, any new hair that has been regrown will more than likely fall out within months of stopping Rogaine treatment. This is something to certainly take into account when evaluating hair loss treatments, as the ongoing costs can certainly mount up over time.

Obviously the extra strength Rogaine is claimed to work more effectively and faster than the regular strength Rogaine, but of course it costs more money. It is claimed that you may be able to see results from using extra strength Rogaine in a matter of 4 months.

Rogaine, and similar products, may be the solution for you if, first and foremost, you are looking to halt any hair loss that you might be suffering from. Regrowth of hair should be of secondary importance to you, as products such as these don't work in 100% of men. If you keep your expectations realistic you should be more than happy with the results that Rogaine can offer.
